Nostalgia

Jing Zhang (27, Hohhot, China) is halfway through the time he plans to be here. In two years he hopes to get his PhD at the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Jing comes from Inner Mongolia, one of the largest provinces of China. It is located next to Mongolia and their culture has a lot of Mongolian influences. The country consists of endless steppe with lots of horses and even more sheep. The painting, made from leather, depicts a few tents, horses and a man playing a traditional instrument. Jing Zhang received it from his mother when he moved to Delft. It has a prominent place in his apartment, so he feels at home in this faraway country.
