Zonneboot naar Maritiem Museum

Een museum moet niet alleen over het verleden gaan, maar ook over de toekomst, vindt het TU Delft Solar Boat Team. De bijzetting van hun zonneboot uit 2016 in het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam vraagt aandacht voor de verduurzaming van de scheepvaart – een opgave voor de komende decennia. Al eerder vond een zonneboot zijn weg naar een museum, namelijk het Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam. Met zijn dek vol hoogwaardige zonnepanelen en de twee draagvleugels ziet de zonneboot in het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam er futuristisch uit. En toch is het ook in overdrachtelijke zin al een museumstuk. Vanaf komend jaar vaart het Delftse team namelijk zonder zonnepanelen, maar op waterstof. Ze bereiden zich daarbij voor op de Solar & Energy Boat Challenge in Monaco.
