First Delft Santa Run next Sunday

Hundreds of people dressed in red will run through the streets of Delft next Sunday. Anyone can join until Friday evening. Pick up your Santa suit in the TU Library.

The TU Library is one of the pick-up points for Santa costumes for those who have registered for the first Rotary Santa Run in Delft. The start/finish line is located on the Burgwal, and the circuit takes you twice around and through the old city centre. The run starts Sunday afternoon at two o’clock and finishes by half past three. The centre will be lively with big and small Santas running everywhere, and plenty of food and drinks to enjoy.

‘The Santa Run is a cheerful event for everyone of any age,’ said Hans Luipen from the Delft Rotary Club on the local news site. ‘You may walk or run, you can even take your prams or buggies for the kids. People in a wheelchair can join as well. Anyone who gets to the finish will get a medal.’

The Santa Run is organised by the Rotary Delft Vermeer, and as well as being sporty and fun, the event involves collecting money for charity. The Delft version of the Santa Run supports the Delftse Vakantie Activiteiten (Delft holiday activities foundation) and the Dutch Kidney Foundation.

The online registration is open until Friday 20:00. The fee is 10 euros, which will buy you a suit, a beard, a starting number and a medal at the finish.
