Ringvaart Regatta

Een recordaantal roeiploegen (170 boten met ruim 750 roeiers) nam woensdag deel aan de 37ste editie van de OC&C Ringvaart Regatta, de langste roeimarathon zonder wissels ter wereld.

Deze monstertocht van honderd kilometer voerde vanaf Leiden via de Kaag naar Amsterdam en terug en verder naar Delft. De race ontstond toen de Delftse studentenroeivereniging Laga in 1976 voor haar twintigste lustrum haar Leidse concurrenten van Njord uitdaagde voor een heroïsche uitputtingsslag. Inmiddels is de roeimarathon door het Hollandse landschap een begrip.
