The Love Doctor

Got a question or problem with love, sex, sexuality, dating…a matter of the heart? The Love Doctor is here to help. With a PhD in Loveolgy from the University of Life, there’s not a problem I can’t fix, a question I can’t answer, no matter how serious, strange, difficult or downright weird.

Now on to this week’s questions:

What can lovers do to remedy accidents that occur while having sex and might result in unwanted pregnancies, such as the condom slipping off during sex? That may not usually happen, but it is possible. Could I buy some medicine to remedy it in an emergency? Where can I buy it in Delft? Is there any brand difference in this kind of medicine? Do I need a prescription for it before I am allowed to buy it? How do I use it? – Slipped

Dear Slipped,

I hope I’m not too late giving you this information; otherwise you will need a bit more than a Love Doctor. There is a contraceptive pill called ‘The Morning After Pill’ (or 72 hour pill). What this does is that it principally stops the fertilized egg from entering the womb, thus preventing pregnancy. This should be taken within 72 hours of the ‘accident’, and some doctors believe the earlier the better. It is just one pill, one dose within the time frame, and there is no brand difference. If it’s allowed on the shelves, it does the job. You can get this pill at any pharmacy in Delft, or at a Doctor’s clinic (but not mine), and it requires no prescription. The morning after pill has no known side effects either: it’s totally safe and can be used as many times as needed. Please keep in mind though that it is by no means a substitute for a condom, for example, and in no way would it prevent the transfer of diseases. Prevention is better than cure, so always be safe.

Thank you for the advice about the threesome last issue. I was over worried about how not to lose my girl and hated sharing her. I have given it enough thought since then and have decided to go ahead with it. We spoke about it and we both agreed that it won’t hurt our future. So please finish your favour and tell me in that case, what are the general rules to watch out for in a threesome? – Still Caring

Dear Caring,

Good to hear you have changed your mind. Just like every other guy would probably tell you, you won’t regret it. Getting to the issue, the most important is who you bring in to your bed. I’m guessing your girlfriend already has someone in mind, since she has been thinking about it for so long. Whether it is her best friend or a stranger, there are things to watch out for here. Keep in mind at all times that whatever pleasure you get in a threesome is a treat. So instead of demanding things that might push the girls away (like oral sex from both of them at the same time), enjoy everything that comes your way. Another thing to watch out for is this: pay a little more attention to your girl, because girls have much more exaggerated jealousy issues than guys do, and the ‘did you like her more than me’ line is the last thing you want to deal with the next day. Avoid any conversations during sex as well; this can be a major turn-off, and you might blow (no pun intended) the whole thing if you say the wrong thing. A final suggestion in case the other woman is a stranger to you is to have her leave as soon as possible after sex. Her lying around is very unnecessary after the sex is over, and in case it wasn’t a pleasant experience, she is the last person both of you want to be with!
