Sail speed record broken

The spectacular spead sailing boat Vestas Sailrocket 2 set the record over 500 meter on 109 kph with a top speed of 199 kph in Walvis Bay, off the coast of Namibia last week.

‘That was pretty bloody sensational’, says pilot and project leader Paul Larsen after finishing an exhilarating run over the knobbly waters of the bay. As the 55 kph wind accelerated the craft, it slowly rose out of the water and skidded over the wave tops.

Read all about it in the Vestas news bulletin, but best of all: take a look at the video they made.
