Every week a Delta editor or two tests the food on campus. From the Aula to X and everything in between. Hungry yet critical, we critique the meals.

Meal: Pizza Borromea (ham, cheese and mushrooms)
After a disappointing meal from TastyBox, we were looking forward to something that made up for it. At first glance, Food Station – wedged next to the Spar – looked like the wrong place. Luckily the restaurant has Italian pizzas on top of a wide choice of Turkish pizzas. We decided to give it a go.
Temperature: 6
While the temperature of a flat pizza is tricky to measure, we did manage to measure 55 degrees Celsius. As is often the case with pizzas, the temperature while eating is rarely satisfactory. It starts off too hot to eat but by the time you get to the last slice it’s too cold. This is a hard one for pizza makers.
Texture: 4
Okay, pizzas are allowed to be greasy. But this one goes beyond the pale. The toppings on the pizza, the ham and mushrooms, swim in the hefty amount of greasy cheese. The pizza is so slippery that you can’t eat with your fingers. Every bite ends up in a puddle of grease.
Taste: 5
It’s hardly surprising that the first thing you taste is cheese. After that, it is cheese combined with more cheese. Oh yes, there were other things on the pizza too, but we didn’t taste them.
Quantity/proportion: 6
The quantity is perfect – no smaller or larger than the pizzas you get elsewhere. The proportion, however, leaves much to be desired. The jokes soon start flying across the table. “Do you want a bit of pizza with your cheese?”. The ultimate was the viral film on the internet (in Dutch).
Price/quality: 6
To be honest, we can often buy this pizza for one euro less at Italian restaurants. We can also eat for less at our fast food friends. This very filling meal with all that cheese only earns a lightweight six.
Presentation: 7
We are impressed by the clean table and enjoy real cutlery. The pizza is beautifully golden brown and still sizzles from the hot oven. A salient detail for the hungry and positive among us – the pizza is too big for the plate.
Experience: 8
If you greet the Food Police with a smile, you get points. While the staff may not have recognised us as the Food Police, they still served us with all the ceremony that you would expect from a top restaurant. We will definitely come back – but not with someone suffering from lactose intolerance.
Overall rating: 6
