[Poetic Engineering]: O supercomputer

Poetic impression by Bauke Steenhuisen of the dissertation ‘Experimental quantum computation with nuclear spins in liquid solution’ by Lieven Vanderseypen (2001, Stanford University) in light of his recent research in Delft.

“You… promised Intel and TNO what?!”

“Magnetic resonance at quantum rate

to count near all there is to calculate.”

“For almost fifty million? That’s a lot!

And… they believe these particles, of course

hold two locations? How absurd and brutal

to compete out Microsoft and Google!

You’d better promised them a flying horse…”

“I did. But they preferred this new device

that even Albert Einstein could not get.

He vetoed bits could take on values twice.

Of course, it will be hard. We both know that.

But meanwhile much can change. Expect surprise.

Who did foresee the wheel or internet?”
