They look so innocent, yet if they feel threatened while you’re feeding them, they can become very aggressive and make strange sounds! I decided to name these two Delft swans ‘Jip & Janneke’, because they’re black and white and make children smile. Every weekend I see these two swans in the canals around the market. It’s fascinating to watch how they move so elegantly, how they put the food you give them into the water first to soften it before eating it. They look so innocent, yet if they feel threatened while you’re feeding them, they can become very aggressive and make strange sounds! I decided to name these two Delft swans ‘Jip & Janneke’, because they’re black and white and make children smile.
