There’s an app for that

The stereotypical image of a tourist with a crumpled map in one hand and the Lonely Planet in another has certainly undergone a change as the popularity of smartphones as grown.

Even small historical cities like Delft have their own city apps. If you’re setting out to discover the city, download the Delft Route app designed by the Delft Marketing Team.

With a responsive GPS tool, the map tells you where you are and where to go. It also lists out all the information points in the centre, along with extra information. The home page has information about parking, public transport and the Tourist Information Point. Available in Dutch and English, the map comes with two routes – the Vermeer Route and the Microworld Route. Each point has detailed information, along with a voice over and, in some cases, a link to videos. Best of all, the app is free.
