Memorial gathering Dr. Bert Enserink

After a short illness, dr.ir. Bert Enserink (TPM-MAS-Policy Analysis) passed away on 18 July in the presence of his wife and children.

Bert has made a major contribution to the success of TPM’s international Master’s program Engineering & Policy Analysis (EPA) in The Hague. He was closely involved in establishing the innovative, interdisciplinary EPA curriculum and the collaboration between TU Delft, the municipality of The Hague, and other public organisations in that city. Bert was the EPA program director from 2007-2020.

His scientific research has focused on participative decision-making in water and environmental management in, for example, Kerala, India, the Nile River basin, and the port of Durban in South Africa. In research and education, Bert was always focused on the future. Bert was convinced that democracy and inclusiveness are necessary for sustainable growth and development and put this into practice. Bert was loved by his (former) students and colleagues worldwide.

The Management of the Multi-Actor Systems department and the Policy Analysis section want to offer students and colleagues the opportunity to commemorate Bert on Tuesday, 18 October, in room A at TPM from 4.15 to 5.15 PM, followed by drinks. During the gathering, several speakers will commemorate Bert’s research, teaching and especially Bert as the warm person he was, both as a colleague and a teacher. Bert’s family will also be present on this occasion.
