For most students, it has been a while since they chose TU Delft, but now it is the next generation’s turn. Last Friday and Saturday, TU Delft opened its doors for them.
It is the first time that TU Delft is organising Open Days at a weekend. Corien Sluis, student recruitment manager, says that this is for two reasons: “Firstly, because we get more students that come to these Open Days every year. This way, we can spread them out more evenly. Secondly, it was a bit of a struggle with the regular education that goes on at TU Delft during the week. For example, we had some issues with the availability of lecture halls. This way we can avoid this from happening again.”
Over 4,600 high school students attended the Open Days, and 2,000 of them brought a parent. On average, this was a smaller number than last year, but that is because TU Delft is organising five Open Days in total this year, instead of four. “It is an experiment to see if it helps us deal with the higher number of high school students that want to apply to TU Delft,” says Sluis.
Bachelor studies did their best to attract prospective students. Each faculty hosted an information market with study materials, completed end projects and had current students at hand who answered questions about their experiences with the study. The faculties also hosted mini lectures, presentations, tours of the faculty and workshops. This way, the high school students got an idea of the study itself and the faculty in general.
