‘Kindertelefoon’ for young adults

‘Kindertelefoon’ for young adults

Since Wednesday, the well known Dutch support line ‘Kindertelefoon’ also offers a helpline for young adults. It’s called the Alles Oké? Supportline and it’s available for adults between 18 and 24 years old. They can call free of charge and anonymous when things are not going well.

The support line is also available in English and is staffed by trained volunteers. Instead of calling it’s also possible to chat online, in both English and Dutch. The website of the support line emphasises every possible topic can be discussed. For example, young adults can call about stress, depression and the corona crisis, but conversations can also be about drugs, love or work. Currently the Kindertelefoon is working on an of the website. The line is available between 2pm and 10pm by calling the number 0800-0450.

Since the second lockdown, there has been a lot of focus on student wellbeing. One study after another concludes that students have a hard time mentally. They spend a lot of time on their own in a (small) room and feel gloomy or anxious. There are also many well being initiatives available for TU Delft students. You can read about them here.
