Much was already known and at present there are no major consequences, to the satisfaction of the universities. The biggest change is the need to comply with the working at home rule more strictly. Just when more people are going back to their offices, this is a dampener for many.
‘Staff may only come to campus for location-specific work’, writes TU Delft in the update. TU Delft names researchers who work in laboratories and teachers who give lectures as examples. “Deciding whether it is necessary to come to campus or not should be done in consultation with your manager,” explains a TU Delft spokesperson. “This also applies to staff who are unable to work at home for personal reasons.”
Masks
Doctoral dissertation defences, graduation meetings and diploma award ceremonies may continue. However, in line with the rules announced by the Cabinet, only 30 people at the most may attend.
For now the wearing of masks at TU Delft is not mandatory, ‘but nobody is forbidden to do so’, the Executive Board had announced earlier. TU Delft is awaiting the decision of the RIVM Outbreak Management Team and the Government and will follow national or regional mask policy accordingly.
Sports
The closing of sports canteens and the national ban on public attendance at matches will affect the X sports and culture centre. Café X will be open during the week but will be closed at weekends. The decision to open changing rooms and showers for away teams is revoked. Away teams are requested to leave X immediately after the match.
