Exhibition ‘Delta is here’ in TU Library

The exhibition ‘Delta is here’, in the Library from Oktober 7 till Novmber 29, shows an overview of all the covers that have decorated Delta magazine during the last four years.

For nearly 50 years Delta has been the independent news source on the TU Delft campus for both students and staff. Delta has grown from a printed weekly newspaper to a news medium that features current news online on a daily basis and since 2012 has been published as a magazine with in-depth articles and editorials.

Some of the covers are shown comically and some seriously, but all the people featured on the Delta covers are your fellow students or colleagues. Because it’s the people – whether they are studying, teaching, researching or working in support services – that make TU Delft the university that it is.

The cover photos are not chosen at random. There is a process behind every picture. For each edition the Delta editorial team decides what story should be featured on the cover. Then they deliberate with the photographer, designer and art director about what image would best represent that article.

For the photographer it’s often a real challenge to shoot just the right picture. How do you capture a robot holding a glass of champagne, or simulate a fire in a student house or persuade a scientist who is involved in researching sewers to climb down a manhole? This exhibition shows the answer to all these questions and more.
