What you need to know about the corona pass

Can you do sports at X without a QR code? How can international students get corona entry passes and what rules apply to student associations? Nine questions and answers about the corona pass.

1. What is the corona pass?
The corona pass is an entry pass. The pass – usually a QR code on your phone – shows that you are probably not infected with Covid-19. You can only get the pass if you are fully vaccinated for the virus, had a recent negative test, or have proof of immunity because you have had corona in the last six months.

2. How can I get a pass?
You can use the CoronaCheck app to generate a corona entry pass in the form of a QR code. To do this, first download the app from the App Store or Play Store. Then generate the entry pass as follows.

• Proof of vaccination: you are fully vaccinated so can generate a QR code using your proof of vaccination. 
• Negative test: make an appointment for a free corona test on testenvoortoegang.org. The negative test result is valid for 24 hours.
• Proof of recovery: you have had corona and can prove it with a positive PCR test. Upload a proof of recovery into the app. This only works if a positive test is 12 to 180 days old.

3. What if I do not have a smartphone?
If you do not have a smartphone, you can make a paper proof on coronacheck.nl. You will receive a QR code that you need to print out and bring with you.

4. Does the CoronaCheck app also work for internationals?
EU residents can use the EU Digital Corona Certificate. This paper or digital certificate from their country of origin allows entry to events in the Netherlands. They need to produce proof of vaccination, recovery or testing. Most EU countries (and Norway, Switzerland and Turkey) have joined a digital system for this purpose.

Have you been vaccinated in a country outside Europe? In many cases a vaccination or recovery status is not recognised if your code is scanned in the Netherlands. This means that you will not have access to restaurants, cafés etc. If you need an entry pass, then you can have yourself tested through Testing for Access. Or you can have your vaccination registered in the Netherlands.
For this, you will need to make an appointment and travel to a location in Utrecht to receive a EU Digital Corona Certificate.

This also applies to people from the United Kingdom.

5. May I attend lectures without a QR code?
Yes, you may. Furthermore, the face mask requirement has been dropped, as have the one-and-a-half metre rule and the maximum group size of 75 people. There is no information on the TU Delft website about needing to show a corona pass.

The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering is not running entry checks for regular internal educational activities. This is stated in the employees’ newsletter. These activities include open days, graduation meetings, doctoral degrees and inaugural addresses. A corona pass is required for public activities that attract visitors from outside TU Delft.

6. What about the catering facilities on campus?
A corona pass is not required for non-public food and drink venues such as canteens for staff and students.

A QR code is not needed for the hospitality outlets in the Aula, where the seating capacity is being pushed up to the max. The Coffee Star at TU Delft Library is also accessible without a pass.

A corona pass is required for eateries that are open for visitors from outside TU Delft. This in any case applies to people who want to be indoors at Café X. “If visitors only sit outside on the terrace, a corona pass is not required,” explains a staff member. “But once they want to come inside to pay, pick up a takeaway or sit down, we need to check.”

7. Can I do sports at X without a corona pass?
Yes, you may. As the one-and-a-half metre rule is no longer in force, there is space to do even more. The number of people permitted in each space will be increased and the lockers, changing rooms and showers are accessible again. However, the advice is still to take as little as possible with you and to change at home before coming to X.

Other rules apply to events organised by X. A corona pass is required for some of the events. The event pages themselves give clear instructions.

8. What rules apply to student associations?
There is no maximum number of visitors and a reserved seat at events is no longer required. A corona pass is required though, and the doors of the associations must still close at midnight.
Olivier Abbenhuis, President of the Delftsch Studenten Corps (DSC) says that they trust that the reopening will be successful. “Many of our members are already vaccinated.” The DSC will check the entry passes itself for the time being. “But we will still need to discuss this in detail. We always have our own doormen if needed.”

9. Do I also have access with a self-test?
No. A negative self-test does not meet the entry pass requirements. If you do not have proof of vaccination or recovery, only a negative test through Testen voor Toegang is accepted.
