For when you are travelling by train, tram or plane this summer

Now that the tram is running across campus, it is hard to imagine how long people talked about it. This story takes you back to that very first ride: a little piece of Delft history for everyone who knows the campus.

For when you see that everything is suddenly growing

When we put this story together, most of the seeds had yet to be sown and the plants planted. Now, there is a good chance that people are harvesting from the campus kitchen gardens. A good moment to revisit why TU students spend their free time weeding, planting and waiting for something to sprout from the ground.

For when a clear summer’s evening calls for stargazing

Not every holiday story has to be about holidays. André Kuipers explains why he thinks the next Dutch astronaut might well come from Delft. A conversation about space travel, talent and how grand ambitions often begin surprisingly close to home.

In case you are clocking up a few extra kilometres yourself this summer

Perhaps you are going on a cycling holiday, going for a walk around the campsite, or training for a running event. If so, this story about TU students who won a relay race is a nice reminder of what a bit of team spirit and a lot of perseverance can achieve.

For when a novel finds its way into your holiday suitcase

An old TU building as the setting for a novel by Kader Abdolah: it almost sounds like fiction in itself. This story shows how a place familiar to many of Delft’s residents suddenly takes on a role in a writer’s world.

If your goal is to spend less time staring at your screen

Summer is often the time when good intentions actually stand a chance of succeeding. Fewer lectures, less work, less rushing about. So perhaps this is also a good time to take a look at what student psychologists advise for those who want to be a bit less dependent on their phones.

For when you fancy trying something different

Archery is something most people would associate with a holiday park rather than TU Delft. Yet it turns out there is an interesting educational story behind this activity, one about concentration, relaxation and learning off the beaten track.
