#Vegaterror: pig farmers angry at TU Delft

The news that the cafeteria at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment is switching to a full vegetarian menu is not to everyone’s liking. De Telegraaf and AD newspapers called it a punishment, the tweet of Sustainability Coordinator Andy van den Dobbelsteen was repeatedly subject to the hashtag ‘vegaterreur’ (vega terror) and the Organisation for Pig Farming (POV) called on Facebook to cook hamburgers on the grounds of TU Delft.

This call from POV chairwoman Linda Janssen was met with approval, and various pig farmers already offered their products and time. Janssen: “This has encouraged us to actually organise the ‘hamburger cook-out campaign’. She is aiming for the start of the new academic year because students are rarely on campus due to the corona measures.

Van den Dobbelsteen tells AD that he can laugh about the action, but calls it ‘totally unnecessary’. “The Faculty of Architecture is only one of the eight faculties. There is still meat available in the other restaurants on campus.” (MvdV)
