TU Delft deregisters student for misconduct

A bachelor student has displayed such ‘serious misconduct’ in recent years that the Executive Board has had him permanently deregistered from TU Delft as of 1 February. This penalty comes on top of an earlier building ban, which is extended by 12 weeks.

The Executive Board invoked Article 5 of the TU Delft Regulations for the use of buildings, premises and facilities by students and visitors. This stipulates, among other things, that students and visitors may not cause damage to others.

File

The student in question repeatedly did so, which was reason for his Faculty to build up a file on him and eventually request the Executive Board to deregister him. That has now happened, a spokesperson confirmed.

The now ex-student can only request the Executive Board to reconsider the decision as of 1 February 2025, meaning he will not be able to study at TU Delft again before the 2025-2026 academic year. There are conditions attached to a possible reconsideration, moreover, to prevent the student from repeating himself.

According to the TU Delft spokesperson, it is ‘very exceptional, if not unique’ at the Faculty concerned for a student to be deregistered against his will. Delta knows which Faculty is involved, but does not name it for privacy reasons. Details about the student’s misconduct the Faculty would not share.
