Tennis anyone?

A new tennis club at TU Delft is enthusiastically seeking new foreign student members.  The new tennis club, DSTV Obvius, is hoping more foreign students will join the 100 new members that have joined the club since September.

Calling itself the ‘first bi-lingual tennis club for students at TU Delft’, DSTV Obvius aims to encourage greater interaction between Dutch and foreign students. With an English-language website and all club correspondence in English and Dutch, DSTV has created a welcoming atmosphere for foreign students. The word ‘Obvius’ means ‘open and accessible’ in Latin. “The name speaks for itself,” a DSTV Obvius spokesperson said. “This is a tennis association without any compulsions, but with many possibilities, like tennis trainings and competitions, but also social activities, like parties and winter ski vacations.” The club welcomes players of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Members must have a TU Delft Sports Centre card: DSTV uses the Sports Centre’s tennis courts. The annual membership fee for DSTV Obvius is 27.50 euro. Members receive tennis lessons and can participate in competitions. “DSTV Obvius is the ‘obvious’ choice for all foreign students interested in tennis,” the club spokesperson said. Membership application forms are available on the DSTV website. (DM)
