Dutch students like to study abroadAs an increasing number of Dutch students apply to study abroad, Dutch hospitality is not being called upon often enough.

The TU executive board has raised this issue, appealing for more active recruitment from across the border. Besides MSc students, more students on regular programmes should be attracted to the TU to satisfy reciprocity requirements of some Anglo-Saxon universities. Furthermore, according to Rector Magnificus Wakker the TU should aim for closer alliances with certain foreign universities.

New jobs in International Office

Annemarie Rima, the future manager of the TU International Office, has received the official green light to create 6.5 new vacancies. The extra staff will contribute to an extension of existing financial and secretarial activities and to the development of new projects. These projects are mentioned in the Internationalization Nota and include a ‘mobility market’; a fair that will be organized this autumn to inform Dutch students of study programs and traineeships abroad; and a new summer-school, offering courses to foreign students in various stages of their university education. Further plans are establishing a mentor system, allocating each foreign student irrespective of his/her program a Dutch student mentor and the creation of a new datasystem, allowing the office to monitor international relations more closely.
