Opt-out for 44 students

Opt-out for 44 students

During this examination period 44 students have requested an opt-out for one or more remote proctored examinations. The majority of these students study at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.

The 44 students have requested an opt-out for a total of 78 examinations. This means they will make the exam on laptops at the campus instead of at home.

Of the 78 requests, 61 came from students of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (AE). The faculty’s student council has brought the opt-out to the attention of students, but the high number could also be due to the fact that AE has more proctored exams than other faculties. This term 16 of the 43 proctored examinations are held by AE.

During online proctored exams students are monitored with their own webcam and microphone. The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) requires institutions that work with remote proctored examinations to offer an alternative. At TU Delft such an alternative has been in place since the start of this academic year.
