One hundred more applicants for MSc coursesMore than 350 foreign students want to follow MSc courses at TU Delft, an increase of more than one hundred compared to last year.

168 of the 364 applicants passed the entrance exam. 137 applicants were rejected, and 59 candidates must first provide additional information before a final decision is reached. Annemarie Rima expects that only half of the accepted students will actually attend TU Delft. Many students must withdraw because they cannot afford the tuition fees. Presently, only 30 students have received scholarships. 12 students withdrew because they decided to attend another university.

‘Alumni to get lifetime TU Delft e-mail address’

Students should get an e-mail address that remains valid for their entire lives. Aag, a party in the student council, proposed this to Rector Wakker. If alumni receive an address like name@alumni.tudelft.nl, their former colleagues can always reach them. TU Delft servers will forward all e-mails to the current e-mail addresses of its alumni.

Part of TU campus for sale

The TU Delft executive board wants to sell buildings in the southern part of the TU campus, namely the buildings of Mining engineering; Science, technology and society; and the Kluyver Biotechnology lab. The Chemistry building will be demolished. The board also wants to sell land in this area to real estate developers who intend to build a business park there. The profits will be used to improve the central campus area, making it almost car free and adding more joint facilities for research, education, and activities like catering, sports and shops. Architects from Mecano and ING real estate will now make a master plan.
