Mobile vaccination location not welcome on campus Venlo

A mobile vaccination location of the GGD is not welcome on the Fontys campus in Venlo. The vaccination campaign “has nothing to do with school”, says director of the Fontys International Business School Bram ten Kate, according to the college’s media outlet Bron. A pop-up location makes it easier for students to get vaccinated, because they can walk in without an appointment.

Private matter
The mobile location was supposed to come to the Venlo campus in mid-September. After an objection by Fontys director Ten Kate, this will not happen. Ten Kate thinks that Fontys “should not concern itself with these kinds of issues at all”.
Students have already received a personal vaccination invitation from the Municipal Health Service (GGD), and Ten Kate thinks it is “a private matter”. He also calls the reports about the long-term effectiveness “rather alarming”.

The Fontys executive board decided on Monday ‘from the viewpoint of unity’ not to allow a pop-up location on any campus. This is striking, because the government had “urged” all higher education to consult with the GGD. Since Tuesday 31 August, the GGD Haaglanden is present in Delft with a mobile unit. (HOP, JvE)
