Rob Keetlaer is opgestapt als bestuurslid van de Landelijke Studenten Vakbond. Aanhoudende meningsverschillen zouden de reden zijn, aldus de bond.
“Nu is het dan officieel”, twitterde Keetlaer afgelopen zaterdag. “Ik ben vanaf vandaag niet langer bestuurslid van de Landelijke Studenten Vakbond.”
“We hebben het geprobeerd”, verklaart voorzitter Sander Breur vandaag. “Maar met alle waardering voor elkaars inzet, we konden niet goed samenwerken. Het ging vooral over de vraag hoe je tot besluiten komt en met elkaar problemen oplost. Bij de LSVb moet iedereen van het bestuur zich in alle besluiten en standpunten kunnen vinden. Als je dan na zeven maanden nog steeds botst, ondanks wekelijkse evaluaties en teamcoaches, dan is het beter om afscheid van elkaar te nemen.”
Keetlaer studeert communicatie aan de Hogeschool Inholland, waar hij ook actief was in de medezeggenschap. Binnen de LSVb had hij het hbo en onderwijskwaliteit in zijn portefeuille. Onder de vier overgebleven bestuursleden is nog één hbo-student: secretaris Kitty Egelman, die vrijetijdsmanagement studeert, eveneens aan de Hogeschool Inholland.
Vorig jaar stapte LSVb-voorzitter Gerard Oosterwijk op na een conflict over de koers van de vakbond. “Als je het hele hoger onderwijs wilt vertegenwoordigen en allemaal tachtig uur in de week werkt, dan kun je zulke problemen krijgen”, aldus Breur.

Arriving at Eindhoven airport recently to fly home for a winter break, our bus was stopped about two kilometers away from the airport and we were told we couldn’t proceed because a bomb was discovered at the airport. After gawking at the nothingness beyond the red tape for a while, we were finally escorted to a nearby hangar, where we spent the next three hours squatting on luggage refugee-style while anxiously waiting for updates. The atmosphere was a mixture of student LAN party meets family reunion in a war zone: most of the younger people had their laptops, iPhones, PSPs and MP-4 players out, watching movies or playing games, while the older generations sat on their luggage in circles, softly chatting while sipping tea and coffee kindly brought to us by luminescent, Kevlar-clad airport security officers. This calm chit-chat was accompanied by sirens of ambulances, police cars and fire trucks speeding by towards the airport, as groups of women and men in full bomb-squad gear, complete with bulletproof jackets and full-face masks, occasionally rushed through the hangar towards the terminal. Eventually the threat was cleared and we proceeded to our outgoing flights. Sure the whole ordeal was a minor irritation, but in the end it was comforting to know that the authorities know how to deal with the threat of a bomb.
