Face masks mandatory again at Flemish universities

Face masks are again mandatory at the universities of Antwerp and Ghent. They decided to do so last week because the number of corona infections is increasing. They want to emphasize to politicians and society that the virus must be fought.

Netherlands in fourth wave
Although the number of covid-19 infections and ICU admissions is also rising in the Netherlands, this has not yet affected the recently withdrawn corona measures for higher education. According to the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the VSNU university association, there has not yet been any national consultation. They follow the governmental guidelines. This also applies to TU Delft, according to a spokesperson. Maastricht University is considering its own rules and will decide about that next week.

Dutch higher education will not close down in a fourth corona wave, outgoing Minister Van Engelshoven promised at the end of August. In extreme cases, however, the government may make corona admission compulsory, as it is in cafes or cinemas. In Germany that requirement already applies. (HOP, Bas Belleman)
