MoviesFilmhuis Lumen:Dancer in the Dark, thurs. to wed. 22:00, Bjork, the Icelandic pixie, in Lars von Trier’s latest.

Bjork’s charater is going blind but manages to sing a few tunes before very satisfyingly getting strung up by her neck. Oh so moving.

Small Time Crooks, thurs to wed. 20:00; Woody Allen stars as a hapless crook (thief) in a film that neatly switches gears from bank heist gone wrong to comedic exploration of social climbing in the US.

The Grinch, thurs. to wed. 18:45 and 21:30; Jim Carey stars in remake of classic American Christmas cartoon and Dr Seuss book, ‘The Grinch that stole Christmas,’ both of which are superior to this movie which takes unforgivable liberties with the original in order to stretch it out to 100 minutes. But it’s Christmas, so go see it anyway.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?, fri. + sat. 18:45 and 21:30, thurs. + sun. to wed. 20:30. The Coen brothers on top form with this prison escape movie set in the American South, mirroring Homer’s Ulysess. John Turturro and George ‘ER’ Clooney star.

Ajax, fri. and sat. 18:45; The film that all Holland’s talking about. A documentary about the fall of Ajax. Rival football supporters (and now internationally renowned losers) have threatened to bomb cinemas showing this documentary, so attend at your own discretion.
