Discussion about engineers and the army

On Wednesday Stadium Generale starts with a new philosophical café: Prometheus’ Problems. The first edition focuses on the question whether engineers should work for the army.

Prometheus’ Problems is a new series that focuses on philosophical and ethical questions related to engineering, modern technology, and its impact on society. Can an algorithm be racist, for example? And who is responsible if a self-driving car causes an accident?

Students can join the discussion by putting forward their own questions. The session starts at 16.00 and ends at 18.00 hours. The speakers are Christine Boshuizen from the Australian Defense Force Academy, David Abbink from TU Delft and Frank Slijper from PAX.

You can join the meeting physically or digitally. More information can be found on the website of Studium Generale. Due to current COVID restrictions, this event has a physical capacity of 30 attendees
