This week, the new contemplation room in the TU Delft Library has opened. The space is located on the third floor and is accessible to students, staff and visitors who want to meditate, reflect or rest.
It is the second contemplation room on campus; the first is located at sports and cultural centre X. A third room will open at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment later this month.
Increasing demand
The realisation of the new spaces is a joint initiative of the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) office and the Campus Real Estate & Facility Management department.
With this, TU Delft is responding to an increasing demand for reflection spaces. That need was already underlined by student council group Lijst Bèta and Muslim student association Ibn Firnas in 2023.
