Autumn The following are translations of the captions in the newspaper version of Delta, in order of appearance.Front Page’Unsettled weather with regular showers and sometimes heavy winds.

Afternoon temperature about eleven degrees’. The weather forecast for the following days. Who enjoys these predictions? Autumn depressions, colds and listlessness surround us. TU’s people from outside of Delft endure enormous train delayels and endless traffic-jams. Delft residents climb on their bikes and struggle to work. But autumn can also be beautiful.

Force 10 winds

The construction of the Delftsche Studenten

Bond’s billbord on top of the car contains of scaffolding pipes, wood and canvas. Although the bord is bigger then the car, the structure withstood force 10 winds. The student union wants to attract as many people as possible to their open week. Also next week, the car will be sending it’s message driving to the people on campus.

Under the hammer

Parts of the old Pavilion of Architecture’s student union Stylos, like the lighted columns and other characteristic elements, were sold by auction last friday at the faculty.

The yield, which surpassed expectations according to Stylos spokesman, is reserved for the new pavilion ‘Scaffold’. Inmediatly after the auction, the construction of this new building was started by a hammerblow inflicted by dean Beunderman. ”We hope to drink a beer in here with Christmas,” states De Buck.

Friday evening, 16:30. In the TU library, the construction of the show Smart Textiles in Sport has started. Studium Generale will show the developments in the manufacturing of sporting gear. The library floor has been covered with artificial grass, which leads the visitor along the way.

Monday morning 8:00. Underneath the library’s cone, lies a NPSP-vlas catamaran, which has just been brought inside. The boat’s sail is also a modern textile.

Tuesday morning 9:00. A doll is dressed like a mountaineer: first the balaclava and the thermal underwear, then the outer garments made of elastan and Gore-Tex are added.

Tuesday afternoon 13.30. Artist, Laila Aguenaou, contributes her part to a sideline show in the Industrial Engineering building on Jaffalaan. Aguenauo was looking, so she says, to the area of tension between attraction and repulsion: what’s the gauge for erotica and sexuality and your own borders.

Living on your own (11)

Harmen Talstra (23) lives in the Arnoldstraat for free years. The six-year civil engineering student loves Bach and Lego. On top of his cupboard is the almost complete set of Kruitvat’s Bach boxes. The replica of the Oude Kerk was made in 1995 with 3500 pieces of Lego. It took Talstra three days.
