Award for Van den Dobbelsteen

Sustainability Coordinator Andy van den Dobbelsteen has voted named Manager Verantwoord Ondernemen (Corporate Social Responsibility Manager or MVO) of the year. He was presented with the award on Wednesday 10 October during the Sustainability Day at the Amersfoort theatre Flint.

Since January 2021, Van den Dobbelsteen has been sustainability coordinator at TU delft in addition to Professor of climate design & sustainability. In the first position, he takes a critical look at issues such as construction and renovation of university buildings, international travel policy and plant-based catering.

The jury report states that Van den Dobbelsteen is working to make TU Delft the most sustainable university in the world. The jury also praised his way of working, ‘involving the entire university and linking sustainability to education and science’.

According to Van den Dobbelsteen, TU Delft plays an important role in fighting crises in the field of sustainability. On the campus, scientists work together with industry and governments to find answers to various issues in this field, he said at the ceremony. The aim is for TU Delft to operate in a fully climate-neutral and circular way by 2030. According to Van den Dobbelsteen, that year is far enough to initiate change and close enough to feel the urgency. (BK)
