Alles Oké? Supportline in English

Not feeling great? Since last Wednesday you can talk or chat with English speaking volunteers of the Alles Oké? Supportline. The supportline is for everyone between 18 and 24 years old and set up by the Dutch organisation ‘Kindertelefoon’.

Since the second lockdown, there has been a lot of focus on student wellbeing. One study after another concludes that students have a hard time mentally. They spend a lot of time on their own in a (small) room and feel sometimes gloomy or anxious. A recent study that focused on the well-being of international students in the Netherlands gave rise to the decision to make support available in English.

The Dutch version of the supportline was launched in April this year. Young adults can call free of charge and anonymous when things are not going well of when they have the need to talk to someone. For example, you can call about stress, depression and the corona crisis, but conversations can also be about drugs, love or work. The line is available between 2pm and 10pm by calling the number 0800-0450.
