Academic year 2023-2024 started with new education building and parking policy

It must not have escaped anyone’s attention that the academic year started on 4 September. The Dutch Railways ran longer trains and the bike paths to campus were full as ever before the start of the first lectures.

Students also made their way to the new Flux education building, which opened for the first time on Monday. The four education halls with a combined capacity of about 730 students can be scheduled by all faculties. Twenty places are available for self-study. The building can be found behind the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Flux is a temporary, demountable building.  All kinds of measures have been taken to make the building as sustainable as possible. For example, there are solar panels on the roof, the furniture is refurbished and the floorboards have been used before.

Did TU Delft’s new parking policy go into effect on Friday, Monday is the first busy work day that employees and students must enter the parking lots using license plate recognition or their campus cards. Signs on the campus ring road will provide up-to-date information on how many spots are available.

Employees and students who leave their cars for more than 48 consecutive hours and visitors must pay. This will cost 2 euros per hour from Monday to Friday between 8 AM and 6 PM with a maximum of 10 euros per day. In the area around the TU Delft there has been paid parking for some time. This also applies to the public parking spots on campus. The different areas are marked on this map.

• The academic year will be officially opened on Monday from 3:45 PM. Visitors are welcome in the auditorium from 3:15 PM. Online viewing is available.
