100 duizend handtekeningen tegen rente

Een petitie tegen rente op studieschulden is in een paar weken tijd meer dan 100 duizend keer ondertekend. De handtekeningenactie is gestart door studentenorganisaties LSVb en FNV Young & United.


De rente die (oud)studenten bovenop hun studieschuld betalen, staat al jarenlang op 0 procent, maar minister Dijkgraaf (OCW) stelde in juni dit jaar dat deze dit jaar veel hoger zou kunnen uitvallen. De petitie roept het kabinet op om de renteverhoging tegen te gaan.


FNV Young & United voorzitter Yasmin Ait Abderrahman: “Behalve dat studenten torenhoge schulden hebben opgebouwd, hebben studenten nu ook het gevoel dat ze zijn voorgelogen. Er werden altijd ‘gunstige leenvoorwaarden’ beloofd. Met de renteverhoging wordt de schamele compensatie die het kabinet studenten biedt, binnen twee jaar tenietgedaan.” LSVb en FNV Young & United willen de petitie uiteindelijk overhandigen aan leden van de Eerste en Tweede Kamer.
