Will TU students build the longest crate bridge?
After more than a year of preparation, ten TU Delft civil engineering students will attempt to build the longest beer crate bridge in the world. The current world record (26.69 meters) is in the hands of TU Eindhoven.

For their record attempt the students will use 9000 crates. Without the help of tie wraps, straps or other aids, these have to form a span that will remain in place for one hour. Although most of the crates will remain empty, about 3000 will be filled with water to build two large ballast towers. These will form a counterweight for the arch construction.
- The three-week construction period starts on 4 September in a parking lot in Hazerswoude-Dorp. The record attempt will take place .on 17 September. The process can be followed online.
