Vici grants delayed by Covid-19

The coronavirus has upset the planning of science financier NWO. Dropouts and absenteeism meant that only 12 Vici grants were awarded today. The rest will follow later.

Twelve researchers from the applied and technical sciences and the health sciences (ZonMW) received a Vici grant from the NWO Talent Programme this year. No TU Delft researchers were on the list of recipients. Grants for exact sciences and natural sciences will follow in mid-March, as will grants for the social sciences and humanities.

The prestigious grants of up to EUR 1.5 million are intended for innovative research and compiling research groups. Each year NWO distributes around 30 Vici grants. The first 12 have now been announced. (HOP, Bas Belleman)
