Student Marnix Jacobs (Technology, Policy and Management) has created an online help book to help teachers use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their classes. Unlike students, teachers do not work with AI very often yet.
Coming up with group assignments, relevant practical examples. AI can do it all, if you know how to use it in the right way. “But teachers often don’t have time to figure out for themselves how AI works and how to use it,” says Marnix. His handbook offers accessible explanations via videos and texts.
Teacher: ‘Saves me hours of work’
The book came about in collaboration with a group of teachers. Marnix: “I get a lot of positive feedback. Teachers email me or speak to me when I walk through the faculty.” One of them is Michel van Eeten: “I have ChatGPT make quizzes about the teaching material. That saves me hours of work.”
Meanwhile, Marnix is working on an extension, including chapters on using AI in writing and grading reports. Marnix: “After that, I want to focus on the book’s reach. First in the Netherlands and then maybe beyond.”
