TU Delft will go ahead with exams on Friday, despite the Code Red warning issued due to extreme heat. Teaching and other activities will be largely suspended. This is according to an update from the Executive Board following a crisis meeting.

Delta had earlier reported that students and staff were left uncertain about the impact of the severe weather and that crisis meetings were taking place within the university. Until now, TU Delft had taken a decentralised approach, allowing individual faculties to make their own decisions. The Executive Board has now abandoned that approach.
Exams will go ahead as planned
The key decisions are as follows: all scheduled exams, resits, tests, PhD defences and graduation ceremonies will go ahead as planned, despite government advice against travelling. According to the Executive Board, postponing exams would have significant consequences for students, including delays to their academic progress and complications with examination regulations.
Students who are unable to attend may take the next available resit. Those who are unable to attend that resit as well, or who were already due to sit a resit on Friday, should contact their academic counsellor and follow the standard procedure via the Board of Examiners.
In doing so, TU Delft is deviating from the call made by the student party ORAS, which earlier in the day argued in favour of an additional resit opportunity for all exams due to the exceptional circumstances. ORAS called for clear communication and more flexible arrangements.
Teaching suspended, buildings remain open
While exams will continue as planned, regular teaching on Friday has been suspended. Outdoor events will also be cancelled. University buildings will remain open and accessible.
For employees, the advice is to work from home where possible. Those who do come to campus are expected to adjust their work to the conditions.
Heatwave advice
The Executive Board warns that it may get very hot inside university buildings and calls on students and staff to take precautionary measures. Students are advised to drink plenty of water, bring their own water, wear light clothing, and arrive at exams in good time to acclimatise.
In addition, the Executive Board emphasises that people should take good care of themselves and look out for one another. If they experience symptoms or have any concerns, employees and students can contact their line manager or academic counsellor.
