Student life
Introduction week programme

The funniest, most original and craziest OWee activities

Starting on Sunday, about 3,000 first year students will explore Delft in a fun packed introduction week. What should you not miss?

Kara yoga

Sing along to Livin’ On A Prayer at the top of your voice while doing the ‘downward facing dog’. Do this at the OWee! The tranquil programme at X will start on Sunday with a real kara yoga session. It is not quiet enough? If not, you can go to a Lay Down Piano Concert. A more relaxing start to the introduction week is inconceivable.

Leek hitting

This has become a real classic on the programme that D.S.V. De Nieuwe Bolk (or simply De Bolk) puts together every year. It’s nothing more than the name suggests – grab a leek and hit! Chaos guaranteed.

Bob Rossing

Even those with no artistic talent whatsoever can conjure up a beautiful scene with the ‘Bob Ross’ method. Bob Ross was a landscape artist who become a cult figure that even reached the Delftsche Zwervers. The student association believes that this is the perfect moment to show your ‘most creative and stress resistant side’. It is the perfect opportunity to shake off the stress from the fire breathing workshop held just before (from 20:00 on Tuesday).

Eating oysters. Huh??

Is it a protest against the oysters and wine culture or is it embracing it? Who knows. Even Wolbodo isn’t sure. But it is the perfect opportunity to learn how to eat oysters as a member of the upper class. And it is being run by this recalcitrant ‘human’ association that was excluded from the OWee for running a workshop on drawing naked models during the Ladies Intro.

Aperol drinks

The manufacturer of the bright orange liqueur had a turnover last year of EUR 3.8 billion and if it were up to Virgiel, this record will be broken this year. Is the Aperol Spritz your favourite summer drink? Enjoy them at the Virgiel toko! Those who feel creative can express themselves at Lancet’s Creative Cafe beforehand (from 14:00 on) for a Mario Kart tournament in a Volkswagen van, decorating posters using lego blocks or copying their own heads in plaster. Creativity + Aperol = a good combination, we believe.

Helium singing

Are Mariah Carey’s larks not normally your thing? Sint Jansbrug believes that helium balloons are just the thing to bring singalong parties to new heights. ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ never sounded so good!

Sint Jansbrug always stands out for its originality. Students and prospective students who want to go crazy physically rather than verbally can go crazy in the Smash Your Stress Smash Room on Monday evening (20:00-22:00).

Friendship bracelets and bags

Call it objective journalism or shameless self-promotion. Whatever you call it, you can score a super handy linen bag at the Delta stand at the info market. New this year are friendship bracelets which you string and knot yourself.

Want to know what else is on the program for the OWee 2024? Then go to the introduction week’s website. Participants and mentors will find their personal program in the OWee app. What the student associations have in store for them can be read on their own websites and social media.
