Saxion puts BBB candidate out the door

He was already suspended, now he has lost his job. Jasper Rekers, who wanted to enter the House of Representatives for the BBB ((BoerBurgerBeweging, a Dutch political party), is no longer allowed to teach at Saxion University of Applied Sciences because of his anonymous hate tweets.

At the end of October, it emerged that Rekers intimidated and insulted politicians via an anonymous Twitter account for two years. For instance, he wished then covid Minister Hugo de Jonge a single ticket to a Nazi tribunal and called Mark Rutte an “NSB’er” (the Nationaal Socialistische Beweging (NSB) was the Dutch Nazi Party).

Rekers taught digital intelligence & business. Saxion now feels that he has an exemplary role as a teacher and that his anonymous tweets do not fit with that. They have “agreed” that he should leave. (HOP, OL)
