Profit on European science budget

Dutch scientists score well in the distribution of European research funds. For every euro that our country contributes to the budget, it gets back 1.70 euros.

In a letter to the Lower House, the Cabinet looks back on the European research and innovation programme of the past seven years. Of the almost 66 billion euros that the European Commission granted in recent years via Horizon 2020, more than 5 billion euros went to Dutch scientists. Each euro invested by the Netherlands yielded around 1.70 euros. In the list of EU Member States that received the most money, our country is in sixth place. (HOP, EF)
