Accompanied by chants such as “Free, free Palestine” and “The students united will never be defeated” the protesters marched across TU Delft campus. The group passed the faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Sciences before entering the TU Delft Library around 1:15 PM.

The group gathered in a circle between the information desk and the Coffee Star café, after which one protester announced, “The TU Delft Library is now occupied.” At the same time, a banner was unfurled from the top floor reading: “Impact for a dead society by collaborating with Israel.”

Peaceful atmosphere

Both the march and the occupation of the library proceeded peacefully, without intervention from on-site security or police.

A TU Delft spokesperson stated that it had not been clear in advance that the protesters would occupy the Library. No agreements have yet been made with the demonstrators. “That depends on what they intend to do. We need to find that out first.”

At present, the group is being given “the fullest possible space to exercise its right to protest.” “Although the location is somewhat unfortunate for all the students currently studying there,” the spokesperson added.
