Would you rather live in a studio with a private bathroom and kitchen or in a student house with housemates? And how much are you prepared to pay for accommodation? Fill in our questionnaire on housing to join the big Delta survey on the housing shortage in Delft. This will help us gauge if the current housing stock and plans for new builds for student housing in Delft and its surroundings meet the housing needs of students.

Independent research
Previous research done by the Municipality of Delft (in Dutch) and Stip, Oras and WijWonen show opposing information about the accommodation needs of students. An assessment by the Municipality of Delft in 2021 shows that almost 70% of the more than 500 respondents (young people aged between 18 and 30 years) would prefer a multi-room flat above a student house with shared amenities. But the Stip, Oras and WijWonen survey shows that more than half the 700 students questioned would prefer shared accommodation with housemates above living alone.

The question is whether these surveys are sufficiently representative and independent. The Stip, Oras and WijWonen political parties put the interests of students first. The Municipality of Delft’s survey put the preferences of students on one big pile with those of working young people and even young families.

As an independent journalism platform we now hope to clarify the real accommodation needs of bachelor’s and master’s students.

Filling in the questionnaire is anonymous and we treat all answers confidentially. We do not register any personal identifiable information. We only use the answers for this suvery and it has no commercial purposes.

By filling in this questionnaire, you give us permission to use your data for this survey. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Filling in the questionnaire takes about 5 minutes. The survey is only available for TU Delft students.
