He has loved to cook since he was a young child. When he moved out of his parent’s house for the first time four years ago, he and his mother wrote down the recipes for his favorite dishes in a book. The book contains a wealth of experiences and memories. One of his favorite dishes is carrot halwa: grated carrots with sugar, milk and melted butter, garnished with cashews, walnuts, raisins and almonds. “Sweet and healthy, just like me!”

Cris van Hoogdalen is vijfdejaars student Industrieel Ontwerpen en woont nog steeds in het HJ-hok op Koornmarkt 81c, een gemengd CSR-huis met tien personen. Toen hij hier kwam wonen, bleek dat Ikea-ontwerpers geen rekening houden met kamers van 1,70 bij 3,20 meter. Het lukte niet om passende meubelen te vinden, dus Van Hoogdalen heeft alles zelf gemaakt. Inmiddels is hij geen HJ meer, maar intern doorverhuizen was niet zo aantrekkelijk omdat hij dan niet meer aan de gracht zou zitten. En de meubelen kunnen niet in één stuk naar buiten. Bovendien zat hij vorig jaar in het Oras-bestuur, en had hij het daar zo druk mee dat hij zijn kamer echt alleen gebruikte om in te slapen.
