Campus

No heating on part of TU campus

As of 8 a.m. this morning, the northern part of the TU Delft campus has no heating. A leak in the heating network is the cause, but it has yet to be located.

The campus’ heat network has four branches. One of them, which supplies the northern campus, was closed off after steam was detected. Campus & Real Estate (CRE) is now looking for the leak. In the meantime, the heat supply has been stopped.

Buildings without heating are:

  • Architecture
  • Chemical Technology (Julianalaan 136)
  • Library
  • Applied Physics
  • International School
  • TPM, wing A

Around noon CRE annonced that the cause of the leakage had been found and repairs were ongoing. Heat delivery to most of the buildings would be restored half-way the afternoon, CRE expected. Atrchitecture and Chemical Technology will probably be reconnected by the end of the day.

Last weekend, the Stieltjesweg student complex was hit by a power failure. The failure was caused by leak, as a result of which there was no electricity, water or heating in the entire building. Residents were advised to find another place to sleep.
The situation improved yesterday afternoon. Power was restored to the common areas and part of the houses, after which  residents could return.
This morning the power was cut off again to carry out repairs. These are expected to take the rest of the day, but perhaps it will also run more smoothly, says DUWO.
