1.5 million

TU Delft has earmarked 1.5 million euros for various educational projects. Internationalization is a main theme. The growing number of international students has led to the question of how best to deal with an increasingly diverse student body. Simply offering courses taught in English isn’t enough. “You often hear that Dutch students aren’t eager to join in projects in which they must work together with foreign students,” says Renate Klaassen of OC Focus, the university educational center responsible for internationalization. “Many of these students say they don’t know the best ways to work together with people from different cultural backgrounds. At the same time, we see that foreign students are rarely asked to contribute their knowledge and expertise, even though this would enrich the overall educational experience.” Workshops focusing on teambuilding will be organized to stimulate cooperation between Dutch and foreign students. The project grants run until the end of 2009.
Intro program

TU Delft’s departments of Human Resource Management and Marketing & Communication have started an introduction program for new staff. This half-day program begins with a general session in which Paul Rullmann and scientific PR officers will give presentations. Groups of new staff are then given a guided tour of the TU campus by students from various programs. There is also a special program for English-speaking staff. The next introduction program in English is planned for 18 April in Ciekamer 3 of the Aula Conference Centre.
