On January 15 2014 Delft International Student Society (DISS) held a general assembly to introduce the new board. Selected members took over their duties on February 1 2014.
Jad Masri: Chairperson
Tushar Milan: Secretary
Shuai Yi: Treasurer
Niki Kandeleppa: International Affairs
Antanas Melaika: Events Manager
Vinay Bharadwaj: External Affairs
Each year DISS selects a new executive board to run the society for a year. Jad Masri, chairperson, is new to the board. “I am a first year petroleum engineering master’s student and I learned about DISS through a friend that had benefited from the organization’s services,” explains Masri. Before moving to Delft, Masri was working in the oil and gas servicing industry where he worked with large teams and organizational tasked were part of his daily routine. “As chairperson of DISS, I have the opportunity to put these skills to good use,” says Masri.
The new board has met to discuss their vision and plan for the year to come. Their mission statement is to be an umbrella organization for all national student societies in the TU Delft. “My goal is to keep working towards that goal by expanding our reach to all international students on campus,” says Masri. With close to half of the newly arrived students during February introduction week joining DISS, the enthusiastic new board seems to be on the right path to achieving their objectives for the year.
