Irish melodies and modern grooves

In the mood for culture? Is Portuguese Fado a favorite of yours? Or modern dance? Perhaps some chamber music would inspire you on a Sunday morning? Life in Delft shouldn’t be all work and no play! From cutting edge modern dance to music from across the globe, a world of culture is at your doorstep.

This week in Theater De Veste: Lunasa.

If only we could return to a time when life was less complicated! Such thoughts pop into one’s head when listening to the music of Lunasa. With its scintillating mix of traditional Irish melodies and modern grooves, Lunasa is being hailed as one of the best acoustic bands to emerge on the Irish scene in recent years. Light as air, new and inventive, the band’s arrangements combine wind and string instruments, including fiddle, whistle, flute, standing bass, guitar, and Uilleann pipes. Lunasa released their first, self-titled CD eight years ago, earning them instant acclaim. Over the years, the band has toured extensively and enjoyed rave reviews the world over. Lunasa is comprised of Donogh Hennessy on guitar, Trevor Hutchinson on Bas, Kevin Crawfard on flute, Sean Smyth on fiddle and Cillian Vallely on pipes. For Irish and acoustic music lovers, this is a musical journey through the ages and a definite must-see! (AG)
