Raymond was affiliated with TU Delft for more than 44 years and made a lasting contribution to student life and the university community. In 1979, he was one of the founding forces behind the TU Delft Cultural Centre. Together with the Sports Centre, it later evolved into the Sports & Culture Unit and ultimately into what is now known as X. Throughout his long career, Raymond worked tirelessly to support the personal development of students and to strengthen their connection to the broader TU Delft community.

We came to know Raymond as an inspiring, dedicated, and visionary individual. He strongly believed in every person’s freedom to be themselves and to grow and develop. Through his compassionate approach, open-minded outlook, and deep sense of purpose, he inspired and touched generations of students and colleagues. For Raymond, X was much more than a place for sports and culture; it was a place where people could meet, develop themselves, and find the space to be who they are.

His influence on the development of X and on the culture of TU Delft has been profound. Thanks to his dedication, X grew into a place where thousands of students and staff members meet, learn, grow, and feel at home. Many will remember Raymond for his great commitment, his clear vision, and his unwavering belief in people and their potential.

With Raymond’s passing, we have lost an exceptional person, an inspiring former colleague, and one of the founders of a vital part of the social and cultural heart of our university. He will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on in X, in the many people he inspired, and in the community he helped to build.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and all those who were close to him. We wish everyone who worked with Raymond, learned from him, or was inspired by him strength and comfort as they come to terms with this loss.
