Headquarters for quantum technology will open at TU Delft
The showpiece of quantum technology Europe will soon be located on the TU Delft campus. Construction of the so-called House of Quantum will start near the new Faculty of Applied Sciences building. It will house start-ups that are working on quantum technology and laboratories. The location is logical given that Research centre QuTech, where TU Delft scientists and engineers from TNO work on quantum technology, is a stone’s throw away. So all in all, you can speak of a kind of ‘quantum campus’. The House of Quantum will be the headquarters of this campus.
Construction should be completed in 2024. The project stems from the Quantum Delta NL programme that received EUR 615 million from the National Growth Fund in early April. Expectations are high. The House of Quantum will be – according to a press release – ‘a place where companies, governments, civil society organisations, scientists and citizens come together to use quantum technology to advance society by developing shared ethical, legal and social standards’.
